Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta
Balochistan is historically known for the production of horticultural crops especially pome & stone fruits, nuts, grapes and dates. Farmers are mostly engaged in the production of fruits and vegetables. There had always been a need for trained professionals in this important sector of our economy. Balochistan Agriculture College was established in 1987 with the intention to produce agriculture graduates equipped with knowledge & skill for the support of our slow but steadily growing agriculture sector.
Horticulture has been the prime interest area for the academia right from the onset of this college. Majority of the students in first batch of the college opted for horticulture as their major subject and the trend continued. Department of Horticulture ranks first among others in terms of the number of graduates produced so far from this institution. That has helped, to a large extent, to overcome the shortage of trained & skillful professionals both in public & private sector. Moreover some previously neglected areas of horticultural industry such as floricuture and landscape horticulture are also catching interest of farmers and self-employers as a profitable enterprise.
