About the Department
The Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics focuses on the improvement of crop plants through genetic principles, breeding techniques, and modern biotechnological approaches. The department plays a vital role in developing high-yielding, stress-tolerant, and disease-resistant crop varieties to meet the challenges of food security, climate change, and sustainable agriculture, particularly in the agro-ecological conditions of Balochistan.
Vision
To be a center of excellence in plant breeding and genetic research, contributing to crop improvement, food security, and sustainable agricultural development.
Mission
To provide quality education in plant breeding and genetics
To develop skilled plant breeders capable of addressing regional and national crop challenges
To conduct applied and innovative research in crop improvement
To promote the use of modern breeding tools and genetic technologies
To support sustainable agriculture through improved crop varieties
