Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta
A team of experts, including Mr. Erkan Yilmaz (international consultant) and Mr. Shamsher H. Khan from the Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Programme (TA), demonstrated the apricot dehydration process at Agriculture College Quetta to support the agricultural value chains in Balochistan. The team, along with college faculty and the Principal of Balochistan Agriculture College Quetta, agreed on the importance of ongoing piloting activities aimed at benefiting farmers, enterprises, and youth.
Objective:
The main goal of this activity was to demonstrate appropriate, affordable, and replicable models and practices for preserving fruits and vegetables, minimizing post-harvest losses, and strengthening value chains in Balochistan.
Implications:
The demonstration of this dehydration process pilot will improve post-harvest practices, and contribute to food security, support local economic development, and facilitate the introduction of Balochistan agricultural products to higher-end markets.
