Quetta, Pakistan – In a significant step towards promoting collaboration and advancing research in agriculture, Balochistan Agriculture College Quetta and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed by Professor Abdul Razzaq Reki, Principal of Balochistan Agriculture College Quetta, and Dr. Malik Tareen, Vice Chancellor of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal.

 

The MoU aims to promote cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of research, faculty development, and knowledge sharing. Both institutions have agreed to work together to promote coastal and saline agriculture, and to explore new opportunities for collaboration in research and development.

 

During the meeting, Principal Reki briefed Dr. Tareen about the upland agriculture and fruit production in the region, particularly grapes, apples, and stone fruits. Dr. Tareen appreciated the efforts of Balochistan Agriculture College Quetta and emphasized the need for collaborative research and development initiatives to promote agriculture in the region.

 

The Vice Chancellor of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal, also advised that both institutions should take initiatives to collaborate with each other in research and faculty development, especially in the field of coastal and saline agriculture.

BALOCHISTAN AGRICULTURE COLLEGE STUDENTS CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENTS

The students of the 4th semester at Balochistan Agriculture College Quetta gathered to celebrate their accomplishments, with Professor Abdul Razzaq Reki, Principal of the college, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event highlighted the students’ outstanding performance in various academic and extracurricular activities.

Dr. Nanak Khan Musakhail, Head of Department, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of active participation in college activities and contributing to the institution’s development. Mr. Nauman, another esteemed speaker, urged the students to maintain discipline and focus in their studies, encouraging them to inspire their peers to excel academically.

The Chief Guest applauded the students for their exceptional participation in the Prime Minister’s youth program, “Greenovate Challenges on Water Conservation,” held at BUITEMS. He praised their innovative approaches to water conservation and encouraged them to continue developing practical skills in agriculture.

The 2-day workshop on molecular biology and Bioinformatics approaches, organized by Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta, in collaboration with the Biochemistry Department, University of Balochistan (UOB), and the Plant Breeding and Genetics Department, came to a successful end.

Principal Professor Abdul Razzaq Reki distributed certificates among the participating students and researchers from SBK University, UOB, and Agriculture College, acknowledging their active participation and enthusiasm.

The workshop, supervised by Dr. Ghulam Rasool Lashari and supported by Dr. Sohail Sahib, Dr. Muhammad Javid Hasani, and other faculty members, focused on Bioinformatics approaches, DNA extraction and gene amplification using PCR machines, and bioinformatic analysis.
