Department of Agricultural Economics

Department of Agricultural Economics is established on 1st December, 2012 as an integral part of Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta will prepare students to analyze economic problems/issues systematically and objectively, and to come up with practical solutions. It will seek to equip students for a wide range of roles in the private sector as well as in the public sector. We will stay in contact with our students after graduate, and seek reinforce work with personal guidance, useful research studies and training for the associates. The department will offer an introductorily course in agricultural economics and Agribusiness Management, Marketing and WTO that are taken by all students in the College as per revised Curriculum, 2010 of HEC. We are striving to make these courses as understandable, useful and interesting as possible. We connected the undergraduate internship/research report with the market based research of Balochistan. The first year of Post-Graduate work will be devoted to the advanced courses. These courses include Agriculture Production Economics, Advance Micro and Macroeconomics, Research Methodology, Advance Marketing Analysis, Agriculture Price Policy Analysis, and Resource Economics. In the second year, each student will prepare a thesis based on his/ her original research work. Sometimes financial help and valuable teamwork experience will be afforded by linking thesis studies to research or consulting projects of the College. The establishment of Agriculture Economics in Balochistan Agriculture College will go a long way in the uplift of quality standard and advance uplift of Balochistan Agriculture, Quetta as well as the Agriculture sector in the Province.
